{"id":151,"date":"2009-06-03T08:37:01","date_gmt":"2009-06-03T14:37:01","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/earbirding.com\/blog\/?p=151"},"modified":"2009-06-29T17:46:39","modified_gmt":"2009-06-29T23:46:39","slug":"we-are-not-alone","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/earbirding.com\/blog\/archives\/151","title":{"rendered":"We are not alone!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>My friend Walter just sent me a link to <a title=\"http:\/\/pjdeye.blogspot.com\/\" href=\"http:\/\/pjdeye.blogspot.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Paul Driver&#8217;s excellent bird song blog<\/a>.\u00a0 I searched the web for other bird song blogs before I started mine, but I certainly missed this one!\u00a0 According to his brief bio on <a title=\"http:\/\/www.xeno-canto.org\" href=\"http:\/\/www.xeno-canto.org\" target=\"_blank\">Xeno-Canto<\/a>, Paul is British by origin but now lives in the Philadelphia area.\u00a0 I highly recommend a visit to his site&#8211;he&#8217;s only been posting for six months, but he&#8217;s already amassed a terrific collection of bird sounds, with spectrograms, audio, and commentary on each.\u00a0 I am particularly impressed by his focus on little-known vocalizations, including flight calls, begging calls, alarm calls, and the like.\u00a0 I mean, he&#8217;s got five different calls of Gray Catbird up right now (with multiple examples of a couple of those): that&#8217;s far better than <a title=\"http:\/\/www.xeno-canto.org\/browse.php?query=gray%20catbird&amp;pagenumber=&amp;order=taxonomy&amp;view=3\" href=\"http:\/\/www.xeno-canto.org\/browse.php?query=gray%20catbird&amp;pagenumber=&amp;order=taxonomy&amp;view=3\" target=\"_blank\">XC<\/a> at the moment!\u00a0 Alas, no crossbills.<\/p>\n<p>Keep up the good work, Paul!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>My friend Walter just sent me a link to Paul Driver&#8217;s excellent bird song blog.
